This document couldn't be opened" Please note that you don't have to downgrade to get kobo to work again. I tried without downloading a NEW book and it didn't work until I did this with a NEW book. The key to this is to download a completely NEW book. I had the same problem, but was able to solve it using a response from etherworkon this thread: ![]() Any suggestions are appreciated as I feel I have tried everything, save a Kobo reset, or trashing the Kobo altogether. I have checked out a few threads regarding similar issues, but none with my particular error message. I have not done a factory reset on my Kobo as I don't want to lose all my purchased eBooks. I have contacted Kobo as well and they say it's an ADE issue and will not discuss it further. ADE seems to be working as advertised, but my Kobo is not cooperating. I can read my books on my MacBook using ADE, and I can even read them using ADE when I click on my Kobo icon in ADE sidebar and open the book. I have contacted Adobe and they checked my Adobe account and authorizations and was told that I still have unused activations and my authorizations appear to be in order. I have uninstalled my version of ADE and downloaded and installed the latest version. Deauthorizing and reauthorizing my Kobo worked a couple of times, but not any longer. I have tried deauthorizing the reader and then reauthorizing it before reimporting it to my Kobo. I have tried reimporting the book, and even returning the book and then reborrowing it before reimporting it to my Kobo. ![]() Because you previously deauthorized your eReader, you need to reimport the book using ADE". When I clicked on the book, it opened and I could see that I was going to be able to read it without any problems.I have a Kobo Glo and I am now getting the following error message "Your eReader is not authorized to open this book. (I dragged my book to my Kobo then looked on my Kobo under the downloads. Direct quote from maureenhutch Mar 26, 2016. You can then click on the ereader (not on all items) and see if you can open the book as it sits in the ereader area. This should work immediately (as it did for me), or it should ask for an authorization. Even if it is not authorized, try dragging the new book onto it. Click the back button at the top and then click your ereader, and then it's gear sign to look to see if the ereader is also authorized. This should cause the book to open AND it also should cause your connected ereader to become authorized at the same time. Then enter your (Overdrive or whatever you use) email address and password. Use the drag down menu to find your library's license type, for me it is Overdrive. After deleting all authorizations (check in all locations to make sure it shows no authorizations), download the new book to your saving spot, then click it to make it open in adobe digital editions. CLOSE and reopen ADE so that the return definitely happens). If you are out of new borrows, you will have to use adobe digital editions to RETURN one of your digital library books. If you are having trouble getting library books on a kobo (quite probably a new one because changing things typically causes problems), try deleting all authorizations - (on your computer and on your ereader, but keep the ereader connected.) Then go to your public library website and get a NEW book - (something about trying to open a book that you already took out somewhere, causes a glitch - for example if you previously opened a book on a tablet or phone, then that's it - there will very very likely be NO OPENING it elsewhere, so make sure it is a newly borrowed one. Here is what I did on ADE 4.5 and it worked for me: Gosh so many people are reverting to ADE 3.0 but that appears to be totally unnecessary. ![]() Here is her message verbatim: Re: Oops!
